Cell phone forensic analysis of AT&T call data with heatmap overlay - mobile forensics

Heatmap overlay on AT&T call data
Heatmap overlay on AT&T call data

Please watch this mobile forensics video. It takes you through mapping of CDR and Historical Precision Location Information from AT&T. I was tasked to determine whether the cell phone user was living in location A or B. Just mapping the AT&T points wasn't enough because we needed to show the number of calls at each point or the density of calls in an area. This can only be done using a heatmap if we want to show a simple map that most people can understand. I wrote a piece of Python code to generate the heatmap, then I plotted it as an image overlay in Google Earth. It's a bit more than 5 minutes, well worth your time.
